The Woolly-necked Story (Ciconia episcopus) is a very large bird, 34" (86cm), usually found alone or in pairs, resting motionless by water.

It is an intra-African migrant, that can be seen in coastal mangroves, mudflats or reefs - or along freshwater streams or swamps. It feeds on fish.

The Woolly-necked Stork has a dark body, with white neck & belly. A purple sheen can be seen on its back, when it is standing.
