The Three-banded Plover (Charadrius tricollaris) is a small, 7" (18cm) bird, which is both common and widespread throughout Kenya. It's most distinguishing feature is its red eye-ring and beak. It is a trusting bird and easily approached. Often seen alone, or in pairs and seems to have a dislike of flying, having very erratic wingbeats. Seen around the shores of lakes, rivers and sea shores.
